It was a most unusual day at Dr. B’s Acoustic Medicine Show last Saturday. Just after we got rolling, during my opening set, the sound system at the Free Times Cafe started to growl and then died. So we decided to continue with no PA system, and I’m sure it brought the best out of the artists. It’s a small room, and when it’s quiet makes a lovely venue for a totally acoustic show. All the artists were challenged to project into the audience – reminded me of times gone by. I think overall it was a great experience for all – everyone played great – and I’m really considering not using a PA in future! I know it sounds crazy, but you had to be there to appreciate the connection between artists and a very involved audience. Players included lots of talent including Sharron Katz,Erwin Schack, Will Bhaskar, Glen Hornblast , Michael Burton, Dwight Peters aka half of Sue Peters and Dwight, Jenny , Victoria Lidia Ilgacs , Joe Sbrocchi, Steve Jones, David Storey and more.
