Although touted as a psychedelic artist, it appears that Toronto-area artist Brian Gladstone is more of a straightforward country folkster than a tripster. His stream flowing, 1980s, Roky Erickson-esque string plucking is a treat, coupled with a 1964-esque vibe transmitting from a Nashville hotel room. His ability to communicate the wacky and smirking side of living in his lyrics is quite honest and conscious and supplemented by a youthful Bob Dylan-esque voice that sounds a little repressed and mushed from living life as it ought be lived. Charming.
